Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

Built for focused work — meetings, interviews, lectures, sales calls. No sign-up. No cloud. Just your Mac and your AI key.

One-click recording

Click the menu-bar icon, hit Record. Captures microphone and system audio at the same time — no virtual audio drivers needed.

AI transcripts with speakers

Verbatim transcripts with speaker labels, a crisp summary and a suggested title. Markdown, ready to paste into Notion or Obsidian.

Choose your AI

OpenRouter, OpenAI or Google Gemini — your keys, your models, your bill. Gemini 2.5 Flash costs about $0.07 per hour.

Local or iCloud

Keep everything on your Mac or sync across your devices via iCloud Drive. You own the files — they're just markdown and m4a.

Upload audio or video

Drop an m4a, mp3, wav, mp4 or mov file. Recordium extracts the audio, compresses it and transcribes — same flow.

Call auto-detect

Optional: notice when Zoom, Teams or Google Meet starts a call and offer to record with one click.

How it works

Four steps from idle menu bar to a full transcript in your notes.

Start the recording

Click the menu-bar icon and hit Start Recording, or press ⌘⇧R. A red dot appears while capture is live.

Stop when done

Hit Stop Recording. Give your call a title and optional tags. Your audio compresses to an efficient m4a.

Transcribe

Choose Transcribe & Save. Recordium sends the audio to your selected AI provider using your key.

Read & share

Open the Transcripts window. Play, search, export. Files live in ~/Documents/Recordium or iCloud Drive.

Private by design

Recordium never sends your audio to us — because there is no "us" server. Recordings and transcripts stay on your Mac (or in your iCloud). Your AI key talks directly to your chosen provider. That's it.

Frequently asked

Still have questions? Get in touch.

Does Recordium work with Zoom, Teams and Google Meet?

Yes. Recordium captures system audio plus your microphone, so anything playing through your Mac — Zoom, Teams, Meet, FaceTime, Discord, phone calls via Continuity — gets recorded.

Do I need to sign up for anything?

No account. No login. You do need an API key from OpenRouter, OpenAI or Google to transcribe — that's what keeps Recordium private and inexpensive.

How much does transcription cost?

It depends on your provider. Gemini 2.5 Flash via OpenRouter runs about $0.07 per hour of audio. OpenAI's GPT Audio Mini is about $0.08 per hour. You pay the provider directly — Recordium takes nothing.

Where are my recordings stored?

In a Recordium folder inside ~/Documents or your iCloud Drive — your choice in Settings. Audio is m4a, transcripts are plain markdown with YAML frontmatter.

Is recording calls legal?

Laws vary by country and state. Many jurisdictions require consent from all parties on the call. It's your responsibility to comply with the law where you are — and where the other participants are.

Can I use Recordium offline?

Recording works fully offline. Transcription requires an internet connection because it calls the AI provider you chose. You can always record now and transcribe later.

Which macOS versions are supported?

Recordium requires macOS Sequoia (15.0) or newer on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

What happens if I reinstall the app?

Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID — reinstall from the App Store and it's back. Your files stay where you put them (Documents or iCloud), so nothing is lost.
